Sapphire Dinner 2025 Live Auction
1. Auction Overview
The live auction (the “Auction”) is jointly conducted by the Great Barrier Reef Foundation (the “Foundation”) and The Sapphire Project by Protect What is Precious Asia Pacific as part of the Sapphire Dinner, an annual event held each year to raise money to protect oceans. The Foundation is the nominated charity partner and is responsible for the charitable administration of the Auction.
Proceeds raised will support the Foundation’s charitable purposes as well as those of the other nominated event beneficiaries (together, the “Beneficiaries”).
The Auction will take place at 7pm on Friday 15 August 2025 at Carriageworks, Sydney, as part of the Sapphire Dinner which is organised by The Sapphire Project.
By participating in the Auction, bidders agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Auction Items
Each item offered for auction (each a “Lot”) will be described in the official event catalogue, on the Sapphire website and by the Auctioneer during the event.
Item descriptions will include:
The nature and components of the item (e.g. goods, experiences, vouchers)
The name of the donor or third-party provider
Any relevant restrictions (e.g. blackout periods, expiry dates)
Estimated retail value (if available)
All details are provided in good faith. Neither the Foundation nor the auctioneer is responsible for any inaccuracies provided by third-party donors or providers.
Each Lot is sold under the fall of the hammer with all faults and defects (if any) and with all errors of description and shall be at the bidder’s own risk. Neither the Foundation nor the Auctioneer will be accountable for any deficiency, damage or loss which may arise thereafter.
The Lots available at the Sapphire Dinner 2025 Live Auction, including their approximate values and conditions, are as follows:
Ultimate City Pampering Experience with Crown Sydney, Neil Perry and La Prairie. Approximate value: AUD $12,000
Two (2) nights’ accommodation at Crown Sydney’s Two-Bedroom Crystal Villa. (Valid until 5 September 2026. Blackout dates and limited availability may apply during special periods or public holidays.)
VIP dining experience for two (2) guests at Margaret, Double Bay, curated by Neil Perry.
Exclusive La Prairie Art of Beauty Facial for two (2) guests. (Non-transferable. 60-minute appointment includes 45-minute facial and 15-minute consultation. Bookings essential and subject to availability. Valid until 31 October 2026.)
Full Membership at The Pillars – a Private Members Club for Australia’s Industry Leaders & Innovators. Approximate value: AUD $22,500
One (1) annual Full Membership at The Pillars.

Purchasers should be aware that the payment for the auction items will not be a tax-deductible donation. In any instance where a Purchaser is uncertain of the tax implications they should consult their own accountant or tax adviser.
3. Bidding Process
The Auction will be conducted live by an appointed auctioneer (“Auctioneer”).
Bids must be made clearly and in the amounts specified by the Auctioneer.
The highest bid acknowledged and accepted by the Auctioneer constitutes a binding offer to purchase. If any dispute arises as to the last or highest bidder and the Auctioneer cannot decide who was the successful bidder, the Lot in dispute will be re auctioned.
All sales are final and no bids may be withdrawn. There will be no exchange or refund on items.
No late bids will be accepted once the Auctioneer has declared the item sold.
The Auctioneer’s decision is final in all matters relating to the Auction.
Event volunteers will assist in identifying and confirming bids during the Auction.
4. Payment Terms
Once a winning bid is accepted, the successful bidder (“The Purchaser”) will be approached by a volunteer and asked to complete a reconciliation form at the close of the Auction. This form will collect the Purchaser’s contact details and selected payment method.
Purchasers may choose to:
Pay via EFTPOS on the night by presenting to the bank table to complete payment by credit or debit card; or
Receive an invoice, in which case the Purchase must provide the appropriate billing details on the reconciliation form. The Foundation will issue an invoice following the event.
Full payment is due on the night of the event for EFTPOS transactions, or within 14 days of the event for invoiced payments, in order for the auction item to be issued to the Purchaser.
5. Collection and Delivery
Physical Lot items may be collected on the night only if full payment has been made via credit card. Otherwise, items will be made available to the Purchaser as soon as reasonably possible following payment confirmation, by arrangement with the Foundation. Purchasers are encouraged to arrange collection promptly.
Vouchers or experience-based prizes will be issued to the Purchaser via email or post within 7 days of payment being received.
Delivery or shipping costs (if applicable) are the responsibility of the Purchaser.
The Foundation does not assume responsibility for booking, availability, or fulfillment of any items or experiences provided by third-party donors.
6. Privacy and Data Collection
The Foundation will only process personal information in accordance with the Foundation’s Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.
By participating in the auction, the bidder consents to the Foundation collecting and processing personal information for the purposes of administering and promoting the auction, contacting Purchasers, verifying eligibility, and facilitating Lot distribution.
7. General Liability
By participating in the Auction each bidder agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.
If any act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Foundation and which prevents the Foundation from complying with these terms and conditions, the Foundation will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligations.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Foundation and its associated agencies and companies shall not be liable for any loss (including indirect, special or consequential loss), expense, damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained in connection with this Auction or accepting or using any Lot, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
8. General
The Foundation reserves the right (subject to any applicable law) to amend or withdraw, cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Auction.
The Foundation has the right in its absolute discretion to refuse any bid, to advance the bidding as it may decide, to withdraw any Lot or combine any Lots.
This Auction is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram or Meta.
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.
