Collaboration Partner

The Art Gallery of New South Wales is proud to collaborate with The Sapphire Project in support of protecting our oceans.

The Art Gallery of New South Wales is one of Australia’s flagship art museums and the state’s leading visual arts institution. As the state art museum, we’re here to champion artists and to serve the widest possible audience as a centre of excellence for the collection, preservation, documentation, interpretation and display of Australian and international art, and a forum for scholarship, art education and the exchange of ideas.

The Art Gallery recognises the relationship between cultural, heritage and environmental management and acknowledges our responsibility to work collaboratively and in consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to provide leadership on climate issues.

The Art Gallery is the first public art museum in Australia to achieve a 6 Star Green Star Design & As Built certified rating. It was awarded to its new building, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architects SANAA, which opened in December 2022.

From our magnificent site on Sydney Harbour, on Gadigal land, we remain committed to making art a vital part of everyday life.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first inhabitants and the traditional custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work. We pay our respects to the Elders past, present, and emerging, for they hold the memories, the traditions and culture.
